Charles E. "Chuck" Puckett

Mayor Charles E. “Chuck” Puckett was born and raised in Kansas.  He graduated from Parsons High School in 1961, lettering in football and serving as President of the Student Council when he was a senior.  He graduated from Parsons Junior College with an AA degree in 1963, serving as Vice President of the Student Body.  He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1965 with a BSBA degree with a marketing major.  He served as President of the Student Assembly in 1964/65.  Chuck married Donna Henry in August 1965 and they will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this August.  He has two grown children and four grandchildren. 

Chuck went to work with Hunt-Wesson Foods, Food Service Division in 1968 and retired in 2000 after spending 32 years with the company.  He served as District Manager, Los Angeles District from 1975-92.  He transferred into the National Accounts Division where he solicited business from and then maintained several multi-million dollar restaurant chains.  He retired as Director, National Accounts on November 1, 2000.  He was honored with the “Meritorious Achievement Award” from the food service division in 1998.  He was recognized with the “Meritorious Achievement Award” from the Alumni Association of Pittsburg State University in 1998 for outstanding career achievement, and awarded the “Distinguished Alumni Award” from Labette Community College, Parsons, Kansas in 2010. 

Since moving to Tustin in 1975, Mayor Puckett has served on more than 30 community boards in a leadership capacity.  A few of those were President, Peppertree Homeowners Association (1976), Tustin Planning Commission (1982-88), Tustin City Council (1990-94), and again on the Planning Commission from 2006 to 2012.  He served as Chairman of the Planning Commission four times and served as Mayor of Tustin in 1991.  Chuck served on numerous county boards and was honored as Tustin’s “Man of the Year” for exceptional service to the community in 1986.  He also served as President of the Boys and Girls Club of Tustin in 1986 and is currently serving on their Endowment Board. 

Mayor Puckett has been seen as Santa Claus at the Enderle Center Holiday Kickoff Celebration for the last 14 years and has brought much joy to the children of the Tustin area.  He has also volunteered with the Tustin Police Department Santa Sleigh program for the past 14 years. 

Chuck was a founding member of the Tustin Community Foundation and has served two terms (five years) as President. 

Chuck is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Hope International University, Fullerton and the Board of Journey Christian Church in Irvine. 

Chuck has more than 20 years of experience serving the City of Tustin as a Council Member or Planning Commissioner and is willing, eager and well qualified to serve the citizens of Tustin. Chuck was appointed as Mayor Pro Tem in 2012 and again in 2013.  Chuck was elected Mayor by his fellow Council Members in December 2014.  He represents the City of Tustin on the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agencies and is an alternate for the Orange County Fire Authority, Santa Ana/Tustin Joint Powers Agency, Senior Fund Board of Directors and as a Tustin Unified School District Liaison.
